Consider checking flights into other European cities such as Berlin. Often flights are less expensive with more travel day options from major hubs. Intra-European flights are extremely reasonable and you may find that even with the added expense, it is cheaper to make the extra hop into Gothenburg.
Hotel Booking Tips
There are alternatives to hotels. You can find quite many hostels in and around Gothenburg. In Swedish these are called "vandrarhem". Here are a few hostels:
